Child of Eden

Hello there! I am starting a new blog, I have kept xangas in the past and I've realized that I really miss blogging. So here's a little back ground on my name, childofeden777 and the title of this blog. It's the title of a song by Joy Williams and has become one of my favorites. You can listen to it: Here

And here are the lyrics:

Eden was perfection a beautiful dream
There was no pretending everything was as it seemed
But she took the lust for life delivered it to man
Caving into the lies all the hiding began

That's part, part of who I am

I'm a child of Eden I'm a child of Eden, I have been
But I won't look back it's just my past
The story doesn't end for this child of Eden
I've had Eve's eyes of jealousy and shame
And Adam's disposition to worry and to blame
But I've had days when I found more in me
Forgiveness and mercy and I was truly free

I know, I know that's who I am

I'm a child of Eden I'm a child of Eden, I have been
But I won't look back it's just my past
The story doesn't end for this child of Eden
Oh, don't let me forget where I was without You
Don't let me forget the pain that You went through
Don't let me forget that I became Yours
When You spread out Your arms for me

The last lines I shared in the bold are truly something I've been praying in these last several months. I have been in a cycle of doubting and rebellion up until this past fall. I felt so unworthy of God's love so I stopped trying.

I don't want to forget that I was totally lost without Him.
I don't want to forget that He paid the price to set me free.
And I won't.

Welcome to my journey. I'll hopefully update this often. :)

P.S. I'm gonna add stuff I wrote and post it as the date that I wrote it. This website is awesome!

Remembering His Faithfulness

Today I was yet again reminded of God's faithfulness:

(April 9, 2010)
It was refreshing and renewing and so good to be back in Kenosha and Lake Geneva with my Dad. It had been too long. The last time we went I was totally overworked and wasn’t able to enjoy it. This time it was almost symbolic, and it was like I had returned home. The days of the daycare were over. The days of questioning my faith were behind me.The weather was cool and spring was evident. I returned to my favorite library and stood at the beach in the spot where a scene in the story I was writing was going to take place. I walked the streets of Lake Geneva with my camera, taking pictures of blossoms on trees, of strangers relaxing in the grass, and the sun shining off of the lake.

Dad and I walked around Woodman’s just like old times and I was reminded of the first spring that I fell in love with Wisconsin and the magicalness of the grocery store that held my precious windmill cookies and cinnamon flavored tick-tacs. Dad went back into the hotel to sleep while I drove around, took pictures, went to book stores, and enjoyed being in a world that was not my own.
I listened to the Christian radio station as I drove around town. For the first time I hear Francessa Battestelli’s “Beautiful, Beautiful “. The lyrics and the melody immediately drew me in, I applied them to my life.

Don’t know how it is You looked at me
And saw the person that I could be
Awakening my heart
Breaking through the dark Suddenly Your grace
Like sunlight burning at midnight
Making my life something so Beautiful, beautiful
Mercy reaching to save me All that I need
You are so Beautiful, beautiful

After getting beautiful sunset pictures I returned to the hotel. My dad was still sleeping, so I pulled out my laptop to check my e-mail. There was one from Dan, the man that interviewed me for Phantom Ranch Bible Camp.
My heart sank, because I sort of knew what it was going to say.
They were already adequately staffed for the summer of 2010. I wouldn’t be needed. I wasn’t hired.
I felt myself slip into sadness even after such a great day. But something caught me, the lyrics to “Beautiful, Beautiful”-the last verse:
Now there’s a joy inside I can’t contain But even perfect days can end in rain And though it’s pouring down I see You through the clouds Shining on my face
Even though I faced immense disappointment, I knew that God was there and there was a reason that he had said no to Phantom Ranch. And after a few hours, I had peace about it.

And most of you know what happened next. Dean hired me at Timber-lee for the summer. And although the hallow disappointment hurt for awhile it was the best thing that had ever happened to me. At timber-lee I learned what it was to be loved by God. I learned what it was like to have good friends that love you and appreciate you for you genuinely are, the good and the bad.

I was just thinking about that today. And I was thinking about my recent disappointments...and I just know that even though things aren't great right now, I only have a part time babysitting job and I am still unsure of what to do with my life, I know that God is with me. This time is being utilized to write and to read the bible and to figure out who I am and how I can be the best person that I can be. And I am just so thankful for every thing. For everyone in my life that has helped me grown in one way or another and that God has me right where He wants me.

Life isn't about where we end up, but it's about the journey that we are in to get there.(I read that somewhere recently..Ive been reading so much lately, I dont know how to properly quote it.)  And right now I am content to be where I am. In Joy or in pain, I will remain thankful!

by Noelle Joi Curran on Wednesday, 16 February 2011 at 18:31
So, I've been reading the bible more and I'm also reading a Joyce Meyer book called Power Thoughts. There's three things I've read in the past twenty four hours that struck me personally.

1.) In Power Thoughts theres a section called "Don't Make It Personal". Meyer writes: "Automatically blaming ourselves when something goes wrong or thinking everything that goes wrong is intended against us as individuals is called 'personalizing' and it makes positive thinking very difficult."

Joyce just described my life. I worry too often. And when I dont have enough to worry about I look at other peoples' problems and somehow in some twisted way, I blame myself for them. Like silly things, if someone is in a bad mood or upset, I automatically think that its because of something that I did. Even if I hadn't seen or talked to the person for a long time. It started early in life. I remember in sunday school or school when the group was rowdy and loud and the teacher would chastise us as a group, I would feel so guilty for being bad even though I was sitting quietly and paying attention...

Another thing that hit me from Power Thoughts is how Joyce described 'polarizing', basicly feeling like a horrible human being over one innocent mistake made.

Ahgh....I totally do this!
I did this today even after reading this chapter.
The group leader for a group asked for me to do a tray talk while I was eating lunch and I told him that the hostesses would do it for him in the evening. They just had sack lunches and I wouldn't be able to demonstrate it anyway. But then I felt guilty because I probably should have done it. And I beat myself up about it throughout the rest of the shift...
Why do I do this?
Why do we do this?
Why do we freak out about the smallest little mistake?
It's a mistake. People make them all the time. And they learn from them...so why do I have such an obsession with not making mistakes...and why do I tear myself down so much when I do make them...all the mistakes I have made, big and small have made me learn something either about myself, about other people, or about life. It keeps me from taking risks. It keeps me from doing things that I know I would be good at.

I've always known that these were my problems. But I never really realized how much they bring me down....I need to change this. I like this book.

2.) And....yesterday I was reading my bible in Matthew chapter twenty six, the chapter right before Jesus is crucified. I was reading along like I do when I read this chapter when I got to the part of Judas. He was one of the twelve men chosen to follow him. He listened to his teaching, he watched him perform miracles....And he traded all that for thirty pieces of silver...
It brought tears to my eyes.
And then I got to verses 48-50:
48 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him.” 49 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.
50 Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend."

He still called him friend.
He didn't scoff.
He didn't glare at him.
He wasn't angry.

He called him friend.
I don't know if this makes sense to you...but I dont know why that just hit me the way it did.

So many times when I have someone hurt me, intentionally or unintentionally, it affects my view on them and affects my relationship with them. At least I think it does. I try to look past the hurt but theres always a piece of me that doesn't...

I am reading more about Jesus...and how he lived.
And I really want to be like Jesus.
I want to live like he did.
I want to love like he did.
The only difference is, Jesus was perfect. He never sinned.
And I'm just a faulty human. I make mistakes.
But I'm learning. I'm going to make more mistakes.
But I'm also going to learn more about Jesus.

I'm just falling in love with the way He lived.
Ahhh...man...tangents.
haha

And the last thing:
these lyrics:
I thought i did what's right
I thought i had the answer
I thought i chose the surest road
But that road brought me here
So i put up a fight
And told You how to help me
And just when i had given up
The truth has come clear

Chorus

For You know better than I
You know the way
I've let go, the need to know why
Cause You know better than I

If this has been a test
I cannot see the reason
But maybe knowin', I don't know
Is part of gettin through
I try to do what's best
And faith has made it easy
To see the best thing I can do
Is put my faith in You

Chorus

I saw one cloud and thought it was the sky
I saw a bird and thought that I could follow
But it was You who taught them how to fly
If I let you reach me, will You teach me

For You know better than I
You know the way
I've let go, the need to know why
I'll take what answers You supply
Cause You know better than I

This song is from the movie Joseph King of Dreams. I haven't been able to stop listening to it. It's a dreamworks film based on the story of Joseph in Genesis. They play the song when Joseph is in prison after being thrown into a pit and sold into slavery by his brothers, and wrongfully accused of seducing Potiphars wife....he was just an innocent boy that had a couple of dreams. And he was treated like a criminal...

But if it wasn't for being betrayed by his own flesh and blood, and thrown into prison for something he didnt do he wouldn't have been there to interpret Pharogh's dreams. He wouldn't have been there to save Egypt from seven years of famine.

God had great plans for Joseph even when he was in his lowest place he believed that. And God blessed him abundantly.

Yep....so thats what I've been thinking about in the past 35 hours....
God is so amazing.
(P.S. Thanks Dad, for getting me that Joyce Meyer book for my birthday!)

Glory

My favorite song as of Winter of 2008 is a song called Glory by Selah & Nichole Nordeman. I've listened to it probably a thousand times. I still listen to it like once a day. It's not only a beautiful melody but the lyrics are also beautiful and very, very true.

One day eyes that are blind will see you clearly
And one day all who deny will finally believe
One day hearts made of stone will break in pieces
And one day chains once unbroken will fall down at your feet
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Chorus
We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We'll sing Glory to Your name

One day voices that lie will all be silent
(For awhile I thought of this line as people who tell lies won't be able to tell them anymore. It was on my way home from taking my friend back to school when I saw the line from a different perspective. One day Satan will be defeated, along with the demons that torment us with self depricating thoughts. They feed lies into us through movies, books, and music. Telling us we need to be smarter, that we aren't good enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough, not muscley enough. They torment some until they are deep into depression. They convince some that ending their lives is the only way out. One day those voices will be gone.)
One day all that's divided will be whole again
One day death will retreat and wave it's white flag
One day love will defeat the strongest enemy
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Rev 20:1-3I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

We know not the day or the hour
Or the moments in between
But we know the end of the story
When we'll see(your glory)

Mark 13:32 (KJV) — But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

FYI: I want this song played at my wedding...or my funeral....whichever comes first. :) Glory!

Lay It Down

These are the lyrics of Jaci Velasquez's newer songs "Lay It Down". For awhile I didn't listen to Jaci because of a concert I saw her (she was being somewhat worldly. I wont explain) and the fact that she got married and like two years later she was divorced. I realize now I was wrong for looking down on her for that. Sure the Bible says divorce is wrong but I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't be looking down at her. He would recognize that she knew she was feeling awful for her decisions and he would love her regardless of whatever she has done. Even if she didn't want to repent he would love her. Unconditional love.

I think thats the problem with Christians and denominations today. 1.) We're too interested in gossip and who did what with who. And who didn't get invited where. And yada yada yada. 2.) We're too busy arguing over doctrine and denominations and if prophetic dreams are for now or speaking in tongues so on and so forth.

And you know what? Last night I watched "Four Christmases". There was a scene where the family went to church. The minister came out and the crowd went wild (I totally had Honor Academy flashbacks) but yeah in that scene I saw what the world thinks of Christians. They made them look flaky, and like obsessed with the leader guy more than God, and purely ridiculous. But is that our fault? Is it because so many of us are too much like the world Monday through Saturday and then on Sunday acting like super religious.

I'm guilty of it too. To some degree. But no more. How can we change the world and witness to such a hopeless world when we are so much like them?

The last thing I want to do is blend in with this world.

Verse:
I've been lookin' till my eyes are tired of lookin'
Listenin' till my ears are numb from listenin'
Prayin' till my knees are sore from kneelin' on the bedroom floor
I know that you know that my heart is achin'
I'm running out of tears and my will is breakin'
I don't think that I can carry the burden of it anymore
All of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans,
Are slowly slippin' through my folded hands

Chorus:
So I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna learn to trust You now
What else can I do
Everything I am depends on You
And if the sun don't come back up
I know Your love will be enough
I'm gonna let it be, I'm gonna let it go,
I'm gonna lay it down.

Verse:
I've been walkin' through this world like I'm barely livin'
Buried in the doubt of this hole I've been diggin'
But You're pullin' me out
I'm finally breathin' in the open air
This room may be dark but I'm finally seein'
There's a new ray of hope, and now I'm believin'
That the past is past, and the future's beginning to look brighter now
Oh, cause all of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans
Are safe and secure when I place them in Your hands

Chorus:
So I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna learn to trust You now
Oh what more can I do,
Cause everthing I am depends on You
And if the sun don't come back up
You know Your love will be enough
I'm gonna let it be, I'm gonna let it go,
I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna lay it down.

Get Out Of This Town

My dad and I agreed on one thing. We're both miserable. And I hate feeling this way. Something has to change. Maybe it's Florida. Hopefully I'll get a job in Wisconsin. Today he read my thoughts exactly. He said, "Sometimes I just want to throw my clothes in the car and drive away." I think I'm going to do it. Not for a long period of time...of course. Just for tonight.

yrics:
Got it all figured out inside of my head
There's a bag packed up at the foot of my bed
You say the word, baby I'm all set
We'll cover our tracks, tell a couple white lies
Make sure we got a good alibi
And by the time they catch on, we'll be outta their sight
Long gone, baby

Let's get out of this town tonight
Nothing but dust in the shadows
Gone by morning light
Somewhere we won't ever get caught, ever be found
Baby, let's just get out of this town

Don't need directions, don't need a map
If we get lost I'll be good with that
Yeah we'll find a way to make the time pass
Window rolled down with the heat on high
Stars all aligned in a runaway sky
Holding my hand as the miles roll by
Long gone, baby

Let's get out of this town tonight
Nothing but dust in the shadows
Gone by morning light
Somewhere we won't ever get caught, ever be found
Baby, let's just get out of this town

If we leave tonight and drive fast enough
All of our troubles will be just like us
Long gone, baby

Let's get out of this town tonight
Nothing but dust in the shadows
Gone by morning light
Somewhere we won't ever get caught, ever be found
Yeah, let's just get out of this town
Let's get out of this town tonight
Yeah, we won't ever get caught, ever be found
Baby, let's just get out of this town

Yesterday I went to Whitehorse and then went to go visit Jakob at Purdue West Lafayette. His mom gave me a bunch of stuff to bring him. So he met me by my car and we both took his junk up to his fourth floor room. It was just a very nice visit. It was good to see him again. He really has become one of my best friends. I feel so awful for the ways I have underestimated him in the past. I would go into more detail with that but won't.

It was so weird being back in a campus like atmosphere. It brought back some flashbacks and memories. The same thing happened when I went to Bethel. By the way...out of the two colleges I've visited I would like to compare and contrast.

Bethel:
-insanely small. I really like the smallness of it actually.
-Christian school.

Purdue WL:
-Huge
-definitely not a Christian school.

See people are trying to get me to go to Bethel (Adair, her mom, Lindsay, other people) and people are trying to get me to go to PWL (Jakob's mother, Jakob, some other random people I met there) and I really don't think I would want to go to either place.

Now let's get back to the flashbacks/ memories. Just being in the campus atmosphere puts me in a weird place...because it makes me think of the honor academy atmosphere. And I know there is no way you can compare the two because honor academy was just insane and these two campuses are...not. So I don't know if I would be able to go away somewhere and live on campus. And I'm sick of people telling me what I should do...and where I should go! I need this year to figure that out. I don't want to make another hasty decision. I don't want to make another mistake.

But anyway the whole point of this post was...I dont really remember. I just went off on a rant.

I guess I just feel so different than everyone...because while there was a radical change in my life during the five days that I spent at honor academy. My thoughts have changed on a lot of things. I am defiantly more distant from people, less trusting (and I'm working on that.) So please, be patient with me!!!! I am still trying to figure out what God has for me.

So much is happening to me.
So much that I can’t even see.
So many words of wisdom that I am trying to be.
Catch me if I should fall.
And even more so while I’m standing tall.

My head is spinning around and it’s making me dizzy.
I’m spinning around and it’s making me ill.
You don’t understand what I’m going through just to find a way to climb.
It’ll be in my own time.
It’ll be in my own time.

Whispering thoughts in all different ways.
That I’m in a daze.
My head is spinning around and it’s making me dizzy.
I’m spinning around and it’s making me ill.
You don’t understand what I’m going through just to find a way to climb.

It’ll be in my own time.
’cause it’ll be in my own time.
In my own time.
In my own time I’ll take a chance.
In my own time I’ll find romance. in my own time.

It’ll be mine.
After the clouds there’ll be the rain.
After the sun there’ll be the moon it doesn’t matter.
’cause it’ll be in my own time

Cinderella

This song came on while my dad and I were in Wisconsin. It's on my computer now...It depresses me a bit. Mainly because I don't have that kind of love from an earthly father. I wish I did. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my heavenly father.

I just wish we had a better relationship. We used to be so close...until a few months ago.

She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders

It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad, I need you

There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone...

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She will be gone

Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

Glory

One day eyes that are blind will see you clearly
And one day all who deny will finally believe
One day hearts made of stone will break in pieces
And one day chains once unbroken will fall down at your feet
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Chorus
We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We'll sing Glory to Your name

One day voices that lie will all be silent
One day all that's divided will be whole again
One day death will retreat and wave it's white flag
One day love will defeat the strongest enemy
So we wait for that one day come quickly

Chorus

We know not the day or the hour
Or the moments in between
But we know the end of the story
When we'll see

Chorus

That's a powerful song! I am very bored right now. I have been for three days. I figured out that going to the mall and taking yourself out to dinner is good in theory but overall, lonesome & depressing. I tried on Prom dresses. I think I may have changed my mind about going. I want to go now, kinda. We'll see.
I'm going to be bored this Spring Break. It's the first time in four years I havent gone anywhere...whoa, I almost forgot to spell anywhere. I think I would like to go to Florida this year. That stinks. But I'll see Mom and Viv in June. It flies by. Senior year is flying by. It's scary. Parts of me wants to grow up and move on but another part of me wants to remain a child forever.
I'm hoping I get into Mission Year. I really like what they stand for, and the things I'll be doing there. But if that's not God's will for my life, that's ok.

Drained

Sometimes it feels like the only one who truly understands me is God. That's alright, but it gets annoying sometimes. I can't take this anymore. I feel like I'm holding a 1000 pound bucket and every ten minutes someone's throwing in another 10 pounds. I am so stressed and I feel like noone cares. It's just everything. School, friends, family, everything. I can't take it.

I think this is why I like Wisconsin. I don't have to deal with people, it's just me, God, and the beautiful nature. I feel free of my burden. Maybe it is just one big dreamland, but you know what? Who cares? I bet you all have Wisconsins. Places where you get away from all the stress for a little while. Only yours probaly isn't 300 miles away.

I don't know where I'm going in this note. I'm just sick of it all and ready to be somewhere else in my life.

Meanwhile I'm just gonna focus on God. And that's it. Because I don't want to be anyone but me and I'm not going to pretend like I'm okay when I'm not.

I am not keeping my Noelle-I'm-doing-ok mask on.

Beautiful Lyrics:

When the weight of all my dreams
Is resting heavy on my head,
And the thoughtful words of help and hope
Have all been nicely said.

But Im still hurting,
Wondering if Ill ever be
The one I think I am.

I think I am.

Then you gently re-remind me
That youve made me from the first,
And the more I try to be the best
The more I get the worst.

And I realize the good in me,
Is only there because of who you are.

Who you are...

And all I ever have to be
Is what youve made me.
Any more or less would be a step
Out of your plan.

As you daily recreate me,
Help me always keep in mind
That I only have to do
What I can find.

And all I ever have to be
All I have to be
All I ever have to be
Is what youve made me.

I was on my way to the choir concert listening to Avalon- (they are awesome). During a song called Adonai I asked God for what seems like the billioneth time why certain things don't go they way I had hoped and finally, I have had a catharsis: Sometimes we don't get the things that we want because it will stand in the way between our relationship with God. I am happy that some things haven't worked out for me that used to sound appealing. There is NO way I would be this passionate about God if it had worked out.
That is all.

Song of the day: Can't Live A Day by Avalon
I could live life alone
And never fill the longings of my heart
The healing warmth of someone's arms
And I could live without dreams
And never know the thrill of what could be
With every star so far and out of reach
I could live without many things
And I could carry on, but...

CHORUS
I couldn't face my life tomorrow
Without Your hope in my heart I know
I can't live a day without You
Lord, there's no night and there's no morning
Without Your loving arms to hold me
You're the heartbeat of all I do
I can't live a day without You

I could travel the world
See all the wonders beautiful and new
They'd only make me think of You
And I could have all life offers
Riches that were far beyond compare
To grant my every wish without a care
Oh, I could do anything, oh yes
But if You weren't in it all...

CHORUS

Oh, Jesus, I live because You live
You're like the air I breathe
Oh, Jesus, I have because You give
You're everything to me

This is definatly the song of my heart right now.
P.S. I want to go to the Honor Academy more than ever right now. But if I don't get accepted or it doesn't work out, I'll take it that it's not God's will for me.
EDIT: EW! HONOR ACADEMY!

7-19-07

Today Viv and I went to the Engels to watch movies. That made me happy. Open Season was great. I love it.
I've quit myspace. Again. It is horrible. It's an addiction. I honestly can't stand it. And the worst part is I still go on it to see what my friends are up to. And I keep finding things out that I do not want to know. I am just done. Completely 100% done. It's so hard when friends continue to slowly break my heart each day by their descions. And the worst part is, they don't even know they're doing it.
Other than that, I have been getting a whole lot closer to God. It's like this exsperience, this brokeness drew me nearer to Him. I like it, I like it alot.
Verse 1:
I'm so very ordinary, nothing special on my own.
Oh, I have never walked on water,
And I have never calmed a storm.
Sometimes I'm hiding away from the madness around me
Like a child who's afraid of the dark

Chorus:
But when I call on Jesus,
All things are possible
I can mount on wings like eagles' and soar
When I call on Jesus,
Mountains are gonna fall
'Cause He'll move heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call
Verse 2:
Weary brother, broken daughter,
Little widow mother, you're not alone
If you're tired and scared of the madness around you
If you can't find the strength to carry on

Bridge:
Call Him in the mornin', in the afternoon time
Late in the evenin' He'll be there
When your heart is broken,
And you feel discouraged,

You can just remember that He said
He'll be there
